After a 1-2 loss to Algeria in the semi-finals, the Eagles bounced back to defeat Tunisia 1-0 on Wednesday in the third-place play-off. Striker Odion Ighalo scored the only goal in the third minute to ensure Nigeria finished on a high at the continental football showcase. The Group Managing Director of Zenith Bank, Ebenezer Onyeagwu said the outfit was proud of the overall performance of the Eagles, noting that to emerge third from 24 finalists was a good feat by all standards. They gave a very good fight and winning the bronze means they at least have something to show for their efforts. We salute the team and our partners the Nigeria Football Federation for a good job.
